After trauma: safe, individualised support

NIMH notes that not everyone exposed to trauma develops PTSD.

NIMH · Published:

Support after trauma

Not everyone exposed to trauma develops PTSD. NIMH describes recurring memories, avoidance, startle responses and sleep difficulties; professionals assess duration and impairment. Psychotherapy, medication when appropriate and trusted social support are discussed. This is post-trauma care guidance.

Editorial perspective

Recovery and support pathways are the positive message. Safety, personal choice and respect for an individual’s pace matter in every supportive experience. This is PTSD guidance, not Reiki research.

EVIDENCE IN CONTEXT

Distinguishing use from evidence

These independent institutional summaries distinguish mental health, mind–body relationships and complementary practices. Psychological factors do not cause all illnesses. Findings about relaxation or psychotherapy cannot be transferred to Reiki or devices. Offering Reiki in a hospital does not establish therapeutic efficacy or imply endorsement of WorkNestAcademy. Reiki does not replace medical diagnosis or treatment. NCCIH states that effectiveness for health purposes has not been clearly demonstrated.
